AND FINALLY: The Olympic spirit

Yes the Olympic spirit is still with us.

Your Editor visited the lovely Hackney Empire last week for a recording of the BBC Radio 2 programme 'Friday Night is Music Night'.

He drove to east London only to find that the parking zone extended into the evening.  There were parking meters in place.

And he did not have enough £1 coins.

“Don’t worry”, said the cheerful civil enforcement officer (parking warden to you and me), “here is a pound”. 

Dumbfounded and speechless.

It has never happened before.

His local Olympics were the best ever.  Long may the spirit carry on!
