Kingfisher Airlines

Not profitable since its inception in 2005 Kingfisher Airlines has announced that the partial lockout declared on 1 October as a result of what it calls “employee related issues”, is being extended until 20 October.

The company says it is continuing to work with staff and has appealed to the striking employees to return to work so that the airline can share its resumption plan with the Indian DGCA and gain their concurrence.

At this time, the airline is hopeful of resuming operations starting 21 October 2012.

The flamboyant founder and Chairman of Kingfisher, beer king Vijay Mallya, is now also in trouble with the authorities.  A court in Hyderabad (India) has issued a warrant for his arrest together with five executives, for issuing unsupported cheques. www.flykingfisher.com
