Maldives new airport

Kooddoo Airport opened yesterday (Sunday 8 September) on the remote Gaafu Alifu Atoll, the most southerly point in the Indian Ocean's Maldive Islands.  It will help reduce travel time from the capital Malé to just 45 minutes.  Twice daily Bombardier Dash 8 flights will be offered by domestic carrier Maldivian.

Clients of the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi and The Residence will be able to take advantage of the new route, closely followed by guests at nine other hotels due to open in Gaafu Alifu Atoll in the near future.

The 50-villa Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, one of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll’s most glamorous new additions, will be one of the very first to benefit from the airport.  Previously an hour’s flight and an hour’s speedboat ride from Malé, the resort is located 20 minutes from Kooddoo, and is accessible from Malé in just over an hour, cutting overall journey times by nearly half.

The Hyatt group's first sustainable tourism development, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is situated in the heart of one of the largest and deepest natural atolls in the world.  It is an exotic paradise. www.maldives.park.hyatt.com www.maldivian.aero
