Following an experimental summer of allocated seating on certain routes easyJet is expected to make a decision whether to bring it in over the entire network during the early autumn.
Currently, on selected Luton flights to Alicante, Glasgow, Istanbul, Malaga and Sharm el Sheikh, passengers are being asked to either pay for a premium position (£12 front row and exit rows and £8 rows 2-6 on A320), or £3 purchase for any other seat. If they want to take a chance on where they sit there is nothing further to pay.
The major consideration is whether turnaround times are being met, vital for any airline, but particularly important with short haul, high intensity operations. These are being carefully monitored. Another integral part of the operation is the booking software which would need to be revised. www.easyjet.com
