Madrid speeds passport control

Iberia and Spanish police authorities have extended their co-operation to speed the movement of passengers through the T4S building at Madrid-Barajas airport, which handles all long haul flights, flights to Africa and to European destinations not included in the Schengen zone, including the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland.

The airline now supplies police with precise information about the number of passengers boarding or disembarking from each flight in the T4S building, allowing them to assign the right number of officers to handle the flow efficiently.

The system is especially helpful during high traffic periods such as Easter Week, summer, Christmas, and other days throughout the year when bottlenecks may occur.

In addition, the airport authority has moved passport control facilities for the "H" gates of the main T4 building to a more convenient location in order to speed the transit of passengers bound from/to non-Schengen European destinations.  The speedy movement of passengers through the terminal is one of the key aims of Iberia's Ágora project at its Madrid hub to improve customers' travel experience. www.iberia.com
