British Airways stole a march on all the other world’s airlines at Farnborough by having a 787 simulator on display.
Well not an actual 787 sim but its venerable mobile flight procedure trainer spruced up (a digital rather than analogue layout) to give the effect of a Dreamliner.
For 26 years the apparatus, manned by volunteer BA pilots, has clocked-up more than 25,000 miles visiting air shows, schools, and corporate and charity events around the UK – the same as flying to Paris and back nearly 60 times – raising money for High Flight, a kids’ charity helping disadvantaged and seriously ill children fly in light aircraft.
British Airways has 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners on order, with the first due in 2013. www.ba.com www.highflight.info
