BTN is not a national newspaper trying to exploit a situation for its own good.

Yes, Heathrow's southern runway is to be refurbished with a tender document out now suggesting a cost of up to £60m.  Three new rapid exit taxiways are to be constructed at the same time which will expedite the landing pattern.

The work, which will mainly be carried out at night, is expected to take at the most four months with no disruption of services.  Essentially re-surfacing it is planned to be carried out in 2013, and assuming a success, will be followed by a similar operation for the north runway in 2014. www.baa.com
