Heathrow is playing host to an iconic Gilbert Scott-designed British phone box, which has been redesigned by London artist Ryan Callanan, and installed in Terminal 5 as part of a Capital-wide exhibition. The idea is to create a very British welcome for passengers travelling through the terminal.
The Heathrow exhibition forms part of the BT ArtBox project which will see more than 85 iconic phone boxes re-imagined by a host of artists, including Giles Deacon, Zaha Hadid and Zandra Rhodes. These are being displayed across London to mark 25 years of Childline.
Nick Webb, Commercial Services Manager at Heathrow said: “We’re delighted to be able to show our support for Childline by hosting this very British icon, albeit with a twist, at Terminal 5. We’re pleased to have the opportunity to raise awareness of the charity’s fantastic work and the eye-catching BT ArtBox will help us give departing passengers a best of British send-off this summer”. www.baa.com www.childline.org.uk
