Gatwick Presentation

Called “Adapting airports to the future needs of business travel” and outlined by the airport's Chief Commercial Officer, Guy Stephenson, the 60-slide presentation (including much adornment) takes the reader through the history of business travel and Gatwick’s views for the future.

According to IATA, over the last eight years premium passenger numbers have dropped from nearly 10.5% to just over 8%.  By itself, and these are CAA figures, First Class has declined from 4.2% in 2006 to 1.9% in 2011.  At Gatwick 10 years ago 2.4m passed through the airport annually.  In 2011 it was 16.1m.  Charter has dropped by half and is now 5.5m and full service from 15.9m to 12.1m.

Gatwick now serves 240 destinations of which 46 are long haul, has 70 airline customers, and says that 99% of bags are delivered within 55 minutes of arriving at the gate.  The airport is highlighting its “we hate queues” campaign and says its customer service has been transformed under new ownership.  A full two-deck A380 gate will be available next year.  34m passengers passed through in 2011.  Gatwick is aiming for 45m by the mid-2020s. www.gatwickairport.com
