Following problems with sister company Cimber (see 21 May issue) Stockholm-based Skyways Express has collapsed and stopped flying, together with its subsidiary City Airline.
Founded in 1987, originally as Avia, there was a restructuring regarding ownership in 2010 and eventually it was acquired by the asset management company Manswell Enterprises Ltd, based in the Ukraine, which also had an interest in what was then known as Cimber Sterling.
At the time of the grounding, the airline group operated a fleet of approximately 20 aircraft, a mix of 12 Fokker 50s and 11 Embraer 145s, to various destinations within Scandinavia. www.skyways.se
