Afriqiyah Airways and Libyan Airlines to merge?

Libya’s two state carriers, Afriqiyah Airways and Libyan Airlines are expected to be merged next month, following government approval.

Whether the Afriqiyah brand is retained for long haul routes remains to be seen.  Last year the two airlines were grouped together under the Libyan African Aviation Holding Company (LAAHC), an organisation set up to develop the country’s air transport.  At the present time both carriers have Airbus aircraft on order. www.afriqiyah.aero www.libyanairlines.aero
