AFRIQIYAH AIRWAYS suffered its first fatal crash in its nine-year history when a relatively new Airbus A 330-200 crashed just short of the runway at Tripoli International Airport (Libya) last week. There were 103 fatalities, the only survivor a nine-year-old boy. The eight-month old aircraft had flown 1,600 flight hours since delivery from Airbus in September 2009. The aircraft is the same type as the Air France plane that disappeared in the South Atlantic 12 months ago.
