EXPO goes ahead

In spite of dire warnings of what might happen with transport in London with the forthcoming rail strike the 5th British-Irish Airport EXPO will go ahead next Wednesday/Thursday 22/23 June.

Paul Hogan, Show Director, says that he is hopeful the opening will not be affected by the strike the previous day.

For the Thursday action is planned by the RMT.  Robert Courts MP, Aviation Minister, will tour the exhibition and address the Regional and Business Airports Group (RABA), the trade body of 40 regional UK and Dependency airports which will hold its annual meeting within the EXPO.  He was expected to arrive by the Elizabeth Line.

For most visitors travel is recommended either by the DLR or the new Elizabeth Line.

If you are coming in via London City Airport the walk is just under one mile to the eastern entrance, a bus service (473) every 12 minutes, or a taxi.  There are plenty of black cabs outside the terminal but you will not win the popularity stakes for the short drive.  If you fancy a train ride take the DLR to Woolwich, walk across the road at the other end, and take the Elizabeth Line, passing the airport.
