There are new transport opening in Scotland, from the very north to the English Border.Eastern Airways is to again serve Wick, the most northerly airport on the British mainland following collaboration with The Highland Council and Transport Scotland.
A new service from Aberdeen will operate up to twice daily each way on weekdays and Sundays from 11 April, helping restore regional connectivity to Caithness and Sutherland. This will include an early morning Wick John O’Groats departure on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 25 April.
With the first outbound at 07:20 for a 40min flight, the schedule has been designed to provide maximum opportunity for connections through Aberdeen Airport both domestically and for international destination options.
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is preparing to serve Reston Station, 16 miles north of Berwick on the Scottish Borders, which first had a station in 1846 and closed by Dr Beeching in 1964. Earlier this month a nine-car Azuma from Edinburgh stopped at Reston, the first LNER train in 58 years. The train arrived with a specialist team onboard to perform a series of safety checks in preparation for LNER Azuma services to call at Reston station. Edinburgh is 50 miles to the north.
