El Al, Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Shut down for most of the summer Israeli airline El Al has come back with a flourish.

From 13 December the Israeli national carrier will operate 14 weekly flights to Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

These will be flown by Boeing 737-900 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Michael Strassburger, VP Commercial at El Al, commented on the start of sales of flights to Dubai: “Three months after the historic first commercial flight ever between Israel and the UAE and the first Israeli flight to overfly Saudi Arabia, we are pleased to announce the start of our scheduled flights to the UAE.  We are excited to serve our customers on the nonstop flights to Dubai. We will integrate the Dreamliner aircraft within our operations and offer our passengers attractive prices in all classes of service. Frequent Flyer Club members can enjoy bonus tickets at reduced levels on the occasion of the launch of these flights."

El Al pointed out that until the mutual visa entry agreement enters into force between the countries, or until there is another bilateral solution, Israeli travellers can enter the UAE with a foreign passport that allows entry to the destination.

Over the next few weeks the airline will resume operations to Brussels and Moscow and introduce Berlin International.  New York Newark (EWR) will be added in addition to the current flights to Kennedy (JFK).  Brussels will operate with a short stopover via Frankfurt.

All these destinations join El Al's flights to Amsterdam, Athens, Frankfurt, Heathrow, Kiev, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris and Zurich.

Currently entry into Israel is limited to Israeli passport holders with exceptions but these people must isolate and if leaving before 14 days are required to notify the authorities.  If this is not done further entry may be refused.   Details can be found here:  https://govextra.gov.il/ministry-of-health/corona/corona-virus-en

Along the Gulf coast at Abu Dhabi, following its historic flights to Tel Aviv, Etihad plans a daily service to Tel Aviv from 28 March next year.
