Innovators Challenge 2020 for the Air League

Not withstanding the current problems associated with air travel The Air League has launched its “Innovators Challenge” a competition for 17-26 year olds who have a passion for aviation and aerospace and a desire to overcome some of the long-term challenges facing the sector.

Prizes include a 5-day residential engineering scholarship course at Cranfield University sponsored by Aston Martin and British Airways, a 1-week work placement with an aerospace company, plus a 10-day residential flying scholarship worth over £3,000 taking place in April/May 2021.

The Air League provides a sector leading programme of scholarships and youth outreach, ranging from Private Pilot's Licence (PPL) flying scholarships to work placements with leading UK businesses.

Air League CEO Nick West, ex-Royal Navy, was quick to enthuse the appointment of Sir Stephen Hillier as chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). “Sir Stephen is the classic example of a young person with a real appetite for aviation who has climbed to the very top. In 2018 we were privileged to have Sir Stephen deliver the Air League’s landmark Andrew Humphrey Memorial Lecture which illustrated his vision and leadership and we wish him well with the CAA”.  (See in this issue)
