Aurigny flies on

What is in effect the only nationalised airline flying in the British Isles (100% owned by the States of Guernsey since 2003) Aurigny Air Services Ltd is providing vital relief flights to the island of Alderney.

Each weekday one of three Dornier 228 turboprops delivers crucial supplies, including the mail, freight and pathology boxes required for essential medical reasons.  Staff on furlough are helping in the community as Aurigny Aid by assisting with grocery deliveries for Le Cocq Stores, hardly a supermarket but the only grocery shop as such open at this time.

Mark Darby, CEO, said: “I am proud of all our staff and how they have coped at this time. Those living in Alderney must feel even more isolated, so it is great to know our staff and the services they are providing are making such a difference to those in that part of our Bailiwick. Aurigny would once again like to thank our customers and staff for their support and patience during this extraordinary time. We look forward to doing what we do best and running a community airline as soon as circumstances allow.”

Alderney Airport dates from 1938 and has a single metalled runway (14/32) 880m long.
