Iberia brings them home

Spanish airline Iberia (IB), part of the IAG group, has announced its latest efforts in dealing with the coronavirus crisis.

In the airline’s second wave of repatriation operations, 2,000 people will return home to Spain following 6,000 passengers in the first wave.  The 30 special flights, in collaboration with the Spanish Government, will involve flying from points that are new to the airline such as Sydney, Bangkok and Praia (Cape Verde) and Ireland.

As with many other airlines Iberia is also bringing much needed medical supplies to their home country including from China.  Air respirators, donated by small businesses, were flown from Brussels and Munich to a number of Spanish hospitals.

Iberia has also donated some of its current stock to a number of Spanish hospitals.  This includes 45,000 sets of disposable tableware (expected to meet the Ramón y Cajal hospital needs for 30 days); 9,800 duvets; 2,500 pillows; 20,000 units of toilet items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs and socks and more than 5,000 disposable gowns from Iberia’s own medical service.  IB have also loaned ground equipment to help set up and deliver supplies of food, medicine and bed linen at Spain’s new field hospitals.
