A new wing that will almost double the room count at the Bloc Hotel in Gatwick’s South Terminal is in the pipeline after the company applied to add a landmark four-storey extension to open next year.
Bloc says the property, inside the terminal and a few steps from the security zone, has been operating at more than 90% occupancy since opening in 2014. The company plans to build a new wing adding 231 rooms to the existing 245.
The high-spec hotel features superfast wi-fi and sound-proofed rooms fitted with the latest smart technology. The extension will provide a mix of accommodation suited for all, from business travellers to families.
Bloc says the aluminium and glass structure, to be built above the South Terminal and linked to the existing Bloc Gatwick by a passenger bridge, will appear to float above its base, with the windows offering extensive runway views.
Bloc Hotel Group managing director Rob Morgan said; “Gatwick has been home to Bloc Hotels for five years and we are delighted to be part of the fabric of this fabulous travel hub and cater for the unprecedented demand from passengers to stay with us.”
