Heathrow Hilton Garden Inn T2

Last October, BTN reported the exciting opening of Arora’s Hilton Garden Inn T2, an impressive 14-storey 3-star hotel right in the centre of one of the world’s busiest airports. The holiday period was a chance to overnight before a flight.

There is no 24hr room service, hence the rating, but otherwise consider it as 4-star plus. The soundproofing is remarkable, with near silence in a 10th-floor room and an A380 taxing by.

Arriving by public transport, go to T2 Arrivals and the entry is straight across Floor 1 parking where there is also access by car if parking is a requirement. For a courtesy drop-off, keep to the left as you approach the terminal. In both cases, the signage could be better.

The star of the hotel is the rooftop Runway Bar lounge with extraordinary views across the whole airport. Non-residential use is encouraged as a fine substitute for the long-gone “Tavern in the Sky”. There are reasonable prices for supper/snacks and in the summer you can use the balcony too.

There is free wi-fi, plenty of plug/USB outlets, desktop, fridge (empty) and tea- and coffee-making facilities, plus a courtesy bottle of water. It’s a bland room with shower, but fine for a short stay. Toiletries are by Crabtree & Evelyn and there is a gym and laundry facilities.

Read in conjunction with 'Arora takes a Heathrow view' (BTN 21 October 2019).

The hotel is fully booked for tonight (13 January). BTN’s new policy for this year is to show the average lead-in price one week ahead (£159).
