AND FINALLY: Where’s the best man?

Our industrious friends at Travelodge, whom regular readers will know make a habit at this time of year of compiling lists of their guests’ more unfortunate moments, have been at it again.

Having revealed details of the antics of last year’s business guests (BTN 16 December 2019), the company has now unleashed a catalogue of some of the more bizarre items left behind in its 571 hotels across the UK during 2019.

Step forward a 5ft floral unicorn, a pair of alpacas called Ant & Dec, an Aston Martin, a 65-year-old “lucky” Bonsai tree (not that lucky if it got lost), a dissertation, a gingerbread village with residents, a best man and an illuminated full moon. And that’s just for starters.

Best man? He was found oversleeping at the Torquay Travelodge less than an hour before the ceremony. Thanks to the hotel, he made it. Aston Martin? In the car park at the Marlow Travelodge Plus. Later reunited with absent-minded owner.
