Quirky hotel brand Yotel, which features what it calls cabins instead of rooms and communal all-day social gathering places known as Komyunitis, opens its first property in mainland Europe today, Monday, in Amsterdam.
Complete with all-day dining and a one-of-a-kind outdoor cinema, the 202-cabin Yotel Amsterdam Noord in the up-and-coming Buiksloterham neighbourhood on the bank of the Tolhuis Canal.
Cabins are equipped with signature Yotel features such as space-saving adjustable SmartBeds with memory foam mattresses, rain showers, adjustable mood lighting, free super-fast wi-fi and HD smart TVs.
Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot said: “We opened one of our first hotels, a Yotelair, at Schiphol Airport, so it was natural we should return and introduce our city hotel concept to a nation that has always embraced us.”
Amsterdam Noord marks the second city-centre Yotel in Europe following Edinburgh New Town, which opened this summer (BTN 5 August). Similar properties are scheduled to open early next year in Glasgow, London and Porto.
The company has airport hotels at Gatwick, Heathrow, Schiphol, Paris CDG and Singapore Changi plus two at Istanbul, and city-centre hotels in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Washington DC, Singapore, Edinburgh and Amsterdam.
