In its first city-centre opening in Europe, the Yotel brand arrived in Edinburgh last week with a 276-room property in a central location on Queen Street. Timing was perfect with the Edinburgh Festival starting last Friday. It is the first of five Yotels scheduled to open across the continent in the next nine months (BTN 14 January).
All rooms, known as “compact cabins” in Yotel-speak, feature signature facilities such as space-saving adjustable SmartBeds with Serta Gel mattresses, multiple power and USB charging ports, free fast wi-fi and smart TVs with Chromecast.
Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot said: “Following the success of Yotel in cities such as New York, Boston, San Francisco and Singapore, Yotel Edinburgh will offer a hotel experience driven by sleek minimalistic design and clever use of technology.
“It is for those who appreciate quality but don’t need the fuss of a traditional luxury hotel or the hefty price tag of many boutique hotels. We are thrilled to introduce Yotel to the historic city of Edinburgh.”
Viriot noted Scotland’s capital was both a business and tourist hub and Yotel’s “innovative style” of hospitality, technology-driven experiences and contemporary design would appeal to global travellers and locals seeking something new and exciting.
