Flights to Croatia from London City Airport (LCY) took off for the first time last week with British Airways introducing a three-times-weekly summer service to Split scheduled to operate until September.
Friday’s launch of the new service coincides with the start of this year’s Yacht Week sailing festival – Croatia is one of only six locations worldwide that offers the gathering, and it is also the longest, stretching out over 13 weeks.
BA also operates to Split from Heathrow and has increased frequency there from five to seven flights a week this year.
BA LCY general manager commercial and customer, Luke Hayhoe said: “Croatia is a fast-growing destination. It is new for us and one that our customers have told us they want from London City.”
LCY aviation director Peter Downes added: “This new seasonal service epitomises how our home carrier, British Airways, is broadening our offer of leisure routes from London City Airport as we prepare for our busiest summer at LCY yet.”
BA is also showcasing LCY in August when it holds the first of its Flying with Confidence courses there. The course has run for three decades and helped more than 50,000 people to overcome their fear of flying.
