A celebration by LOT Polish Airlines, Lithuanian Airports and London City Airport at the Shangri-La Hotel in London’s Shard skyscraper has held a special send-off for the carrier’s London – Vilnius service which began last week.
The airline is operating the 1,711km (1,063mi) route between the two European capital airports 12 times weekly using a 98-seat Embraer E190 twice daily on weekdays, with a single daily rotation on Saturdays and Sundays (BTN 3 December 2018).
Weekday flights are timed to allow passengers from the UK to reach Lithuania for afternoon meetings while passengers from Lithuania can have a whole day in London.
LOT regional director UK, Ireland and Scandinavia David Bentley and communications director Adrian Kubicki were among officials welcoming guests to mark the airline’s third route into London City Airport. LOT has already established operations this year from Budapest and Warsaw Chopin.
Kubicki said: “This new connection is an attractive alternative to the existing offering of flights at Luton and Stansted airports, which are much further from central London while many people with Lithuanian roots live in East London, making the new flights even more attractive to them.”
