Kimpton outlines more expansion
More details of major worldwide expansion plans, including the UK, by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) US-based boutique brand Kimpton Hotels have been announced following the opening of the Kimpton Fitzroy London (BTN 8 October 2018).
The London property is the first UK hotel for the brand following its acquisition by IHG in 2015, with the company’s momentum increasing this year with additional openings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester.
The company says it plans to expand with more than 25 Kimpton Hotels properties across 20 new destinations, including Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, and Shanghai, within the next three to five years.
IHG Americas CEO Elie Maalouf said: "We have flagship hotels now open in London and Amsterdam, a series of fantastic hotels slated to open this year including our first in Asia, and a growing pipeline of projects in key markets."
Other openings include Taipei and the second Kimpton in the Caribbean, Kimpton Kawana Bay Resort Grenada, which is scheduled to open next year along with Kimpton Bali, a resort of 50 luxury villas in the Nusa Dua tourist enclave.
IHG's total portfolio of boutique properties, which also includes the Hotel Indigo brand, comprises nearly 120 more hotels in the development pipeline.
