Changi leads airport winners

For the 31st year in a row, Singapore Changi was named best airport in the world at the presentation of the 2018 Business Traveller Awards earlier this month. Airline winners were announced last week (BTN 22 October).

The awards, organised by Business Traveller magazine publisher Panacea Media, also saw Amsterdam Schiphol take the Europe prize, while Heathrow was named best airport for tax-free shopping.

Avis was again named the best car rental company worldwide and in Europe, while Virgin Trains retained the best UK domestic train service title.

In the hotel categories, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts was named best business hotel chain worldwide and won the best business hotel in the UK title for the InterContinental London Park Lane.

Hilton took three awards for best business hotel chains in the UK and Europe and for the best hotel loyalty scheme for Hilton Honors, while Mandarin Oriental was named best luxury hotel chain and the Shangri-La Singapore won best business hotel worldwide.

Other winners included Rotana Hotels & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, Langham Hotels & Resorts, Premier Inn, Marriott Hotels, Ascott the Residence and Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong.
