Norwegian opens up in Argentina

Six domestic routes in Argentina allowing passengers to fly affordably from Buenos Aires across the country are on the way from Norwegian’s local subsidiary (BTN 10 September), with flights to Córdoba, Mendoza, Iguazú, Bariloche, Neuquén and Salta.

The first two routes, to Cordoba and Mendoza, start tomorrow (16 October), with services to Iguazu and Neuquen following on 19 November and Bariloche and Salta beginning on 3 December. Norwegian is using single-cabin Boeing B737-800 NG aircraft, configured with 189 seats.

Passengers travelling on Norwegian’s route from Gatwick to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport can transfer to the new flights, which depart from the city’s domestic airport, by taking a short taxi or bus transfer.

The airline’s CEO Bjørn Kjos said: “The imminent start of our operations in Argentina confirms our long-term commitment to the region and represents a milestone in Norwegian’s history.

“Our new flights will help to improve connectivity, boost local business travel and tourism and increase investment across the country, thereby generating a positive impact to local communities.”

Norwegian Air Argentina (NAA) was authorised by the Argentine government in December to operate 72 domestic and 80 international routes, and received its AOC in January.
