The first Boeing B737 MAX to join the fleet at Indian carrier Jet Airways has entered service. The B737 series has been the backbone of Jet Airways’ fleet since the airline began operations in 1994 with the then-latest B737-300s.
CEO Vinay Dube said: “The arrival of this new aircraft is a proud moment that marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Jet Airways and Indian aviation as the B737 MAX is a critical part of our strategy.
“It is equipped to offer our guests the hospitality and travel experience they deserve and the induction of such a fuel-efficient aircraft will also enable us to meet our strategic ambitions of growth, enhance our operational reliability and reduce costs.”
The new arrival has a two-class configuration with 12 seats in Première Class and 162 in Economy, complete with JetScreen – the airline’s in-flight entertainment system that offers over 330hr of the latest entertainment on personal devices.
It also features the Boeing Sky Interior with sculpted sidewalls, anti-glare LED lighting and other developments including up to nine lighting scenarios for different stages of a flight and redesigned overhead storage bins with extra baggage space to allow for faster boarding and on-time departures.
