A four-a-week non-stop service between Hong Kong and Seattle starting on 31 March next year and a codeshare agreement with Brussels Airlines offering extensive connections across Europe have been announced by Cathay Pacific.
Rupert Hogg: 'Unprecedented growth'
Cathay CEO Rupert Hogg said the Seattle move underscored the airline’s expansion strategy to connect new destinations not otherwise served from Hong Kong and to link its home, one of the most innovative cities in Asia, with tech hubs worldwide.
He noted that the Cathay Pacific Group was undergoing a period of “unprecedented growth”, with nine new destinations already announced for launch this year, including Washington DC from 15 September.
The Brussels Airlines agreement will see Cathay Pacific place its CX code on selected services operated by Belgium’s national carrier between Brussels and seven European destinations: Berlin-Tegel, Hamburg, Lyon-Saint Exupéry, Marseilles, Toulouse, Oslo and Prague.
Cathay passengers travelling on Brussels Airlines codeshare flights will be able to check baggage through to their final destinations, in addition to being eligible to earn Asia Miles on their trips.
