Mövenpick in Nairobi

With 276 rooms, suites and residences and what it calls exciting new dining, leisure and events concepts, Switzerland-based Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts has made its debut in Kenya with the official opening of a luxury property in the country’s capital.

The Mövenpick Hotel and Residences Nairobi is in the Westlands commercial, retail and entertainment centre, close to the city centre and diplomatic districts and 20km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The company says the hotel and conference facility, featuring authentic African design and décor with Mövenpick’s personalised service and culinary heritage, also paves the way for ambitious sub-Saharan expansion plans.

President Middle East and Africa Marc Descrozaille said: “This is an exciting and timely moment to enter Kenya’s hospitality market, while our debut in Nairobi also acts as a springboard to grow our footprint across East Africa.”

Events, from business meetings, conferences and exhibitions, to product launches, banquets, weddings and other social functions, are catered for with the hotel’s 14 state-of-the-art venues with natural daylight and high ceilings.

Facilities include the 710sq m Almasi ballroom which has an in-built stage and is convertible to two enclosed sections, and the pillar-less Hall of Africa with space for up to 1,100 guests in theatre style.
