Loganair joins ERA

Membership of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) reached 50 last week with the arrival of Loganair. The airline said the move was “a natural progression” in its development.

ERA director-general Montserrat Barriga said Loganair’s decision “adds further substance to the association’s expanding airline membership and highlights the value ERA provides to carriers by representing them before Europe’s regulatory bodies”.

Founded in 1962, Loganair is the longest-established airline in the UK still flying under its original name. It provides a comprehensive network of scheduled services from its main base at Glasgow Airport.

Managing director Jonathan Hinkles said: “We see joining ERA a natural progression for us now that we are established as an airline operating under our own brand.

“We also recognise the value that being part of such an organisation brings us with regards to the fast-moving pace of regulatory changes on aviation.”

Barriga added: “ERA is at the forefront of strategic discussions on the future of the aviation industry, delivering consistent and effective representation, and we are delighted to welcome Loganair to membership.”

The association says it is the only European trade body to include the full range of companies involved in aviation in Europe, including airlines, airports, manufacturers and suppliers.
