CityJet's Antwerp party

Passenger number 500,000 made the record books for CityJet last week as the airline celebrated the milestone on its route between Antwerp and London City Airport (LCY).

The service began in 2008 and is one of a number of routes the airline operates into LCY. CityJet operates up to four daily departures from Antwerp to London, with a schedule tailored to suit business travellers as well as the leisure market.

The airline marked the occasion in partnership with Antwerp Airport with a joint reception in the bar of the rooftop Restaurant Belair attended by members of the Antwerp travel trade and local business community.

CityJet head of revenue generation Peter O’Mara said the convenience of flying from Antwerp to London City Airport was a key factor, with check-in 20min before departure at Antwerp and 15min at London City, allowing passengers at both airports to avoid busier hubs.”

We are proud of our Antwerp route and the connectivity it provides to the local business community,” he added. “Direct air access to London is vital to Antwerp and we offer the fastest route to London.

“We will continue to work closely with Antwerp Airport, local chambers of commerce, travel trade and businesses to develop passenger numbers further.”
