Free access at Oakland lounge

British Airways’ Club World and Gold and Silver Executive Club members travelling to Gatwick from Oakland (OAK) following the launch of  the airline’s new direct service are being offered free access to MAG USA’s Escape Lounge.

The facility is operated by the Manchester Airports Group’s US subsidiary and opened late last year following successful common-use Escape airport lounge launches at Minneapolis-St.Paul (MSP) and Bradley (BDL) in Hartford, Connecticut.

The company says eligible BA passengers will be able to experience “a relaxing atmosphere with stylish and contemporary furnishings”, plus an extensive free food menu created in partnership with Oakland-based chef Chris Pastena.

The owner of established Bay Area restaurants Chop Bar, Lungomare and Calavera, Pastena brings more than 25 years’ experience to the creation of the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus at Escape Lounge.

The facility, located post-security near Gate 8 and open from 05:00 to 21:00, also features unlimited free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, flight information screens; free high-speed wi-fi and a selection of newspapers and magazines.

In the UK, MAG operates five Escape lounges across its airport network, which includes Manchester, East Midlands, Stansted and Bournemouth.
