More US from Norwegian

A 55% increase in flights from 22 to 34 a week from Gatwick to the US from next summer is on the way from Norwegian, which says it has more than doubled its long-haul passenger numbers from the airport in the past year.

Leading the expansion is the flagship New York JFK route, which will go to two flights a day from 10 August. The extra service will offer an 09:00 arrival time in New York, allowing business travellers to attend meetings during the day and depart the same evening.

Gatwick – Los Angeles flights will increase to seven a week from April, becoming Norwegian’s second US destination to be served daily. Also from April, Norwegian’s flights to Oakland-San Francisco will increase to five weekly departures, in time for the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love.

Three flights a week to Orlando and two a week to Ft Lauderdale, which Norwegian says offers the most affordable route to Miami as well as Florida’s major cruise ports, complete the line-up.

Norwegian launched three new direct routes from Gatwick to the US this year with the addition of Boston, Oakland-San Francisco and Las Vegas, which became the airline’s newest US destination this winter.
