Happy new year for Iberia

New destinations, more capacity on some long-haul routes and the launch of a Premium Economy product are in the offering for Iberia in summer 2017. The airline is also making changes to its operational model on other routes.

The airline is starting flights between Madrid and Basel from 26 March daily except Thursdays. It is Iberia’s third destination in Switzerland and also convenient for travellers from southern Germany and north-east France. Iberia will offer nearly 60,000 seats on the route.

On long-haul routes, Iberia is increasing available seats between Madrid and Quito by 22%, flying six times a week with its largest aircraft, the A340-600.

The carrier will also raise capacity to Medellin, while continuing to serve Guayaquil and Cali via codeshares with other airlines.

From 27 March, Iberia will resume flights between Madrid and San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.

This amounts to more than 52,500 seats, nearly 31% more than during this year’s summer season. On the Madrid – Buenos Aires route, Iberia will maintain twice-daily service, increasing capacity by 16.3%.

The new Premium Economy, on certain flights to the Americas, features wider seats, extra legroom, 13in individual screens, upgraded meal service and extra luggage allowance.
