A new partnership has put Air BP in a leading position as a supplier of low-carbon jet fuel for aircraft at key hubs across North America.
Fulcrum BioEnergy is a pioneer in the development and production of the fuel. BP is investing $30m in the deal and as an equity investor has secured a 10-year offtake agreement with Fulcrum for 50m US gallons a year.
Air BP CEO Jon Platt said: ”We understand our customers’ challenges to achieve their lower carbon goals. This agreement gives Air BP guaranteed access to product which will help to meet these challenges.
“Securing this supply helps to secure the future competitiveness of Air BP, and our place as a leader in the industry.”
Fulcrum has developed what it says is a reliable and efficient process for producing low-cost, sustainable biojet from municipal solid waste (MSW) and has secured long-term access to large volumes of MSW feedstock.
It is now actively developing its plan to build waste-to-fuel plants in North America, with growth potential around the world. Fulcrum’s first plant is currently under construction.
