COMMENT: Trump & O’Leary

Should we compare the Trump Presidential victory to the success of Michael O’Leary? All bluster and half-truths, and some downright lies? The general opinion seems to be that people would not fly on Ryanair if they had the choice, and Republicans at least were more or less forced to join the Trump bandwagon, the lesser of two evils.

This year, Ryanair will record just over 100m seats sold, which translated means perhaps 15m individual passengers. Trump gained fewer votes than Clinton under the US electoral college system. More seats sold does not mean more profit (see Flybe in this issue) and more votes does not equate to being first past the post.

The BTN view is that nothing will change regarding US/UK air traffic, Trump even having a British-registered aircraft.  Roll on the January inauguration. See BTN 27 June “Donald Trump in the UK"
