Two new international destinations for 2017, Philadelphia and Tampa, have been announced by Icelandair. The two cities are the airline’s 17th and 18th gateways in North America and offer easy connections from all the UK airports served by the airline.
Icelandair says it will start four-a-week direct flights from Reykjavik to Philadelphia on 30 May 2017, running until 20 September, while Tampa will be a twice-weekly year-round destination starting from 7 September 2017.
"Tampa Bay and Philadelphia will further strengthen Icelandair’s presence in the eastern US by offering our passengers faster travel times from the 25-plus destinations we serve in Europe,” said Icelandair.
“European passengers will have an easier way to reach the Tampa Bay area and historic Philadelphia, the fifth largest city in the United States. This is an exciting and significant moment for Icelandair.”
The airline is also boosting operations on its route between Reykjavik and Portland, Oregon, adding a fourth weekly rotation from 20 May followed by a fifth weekly service between June and 31 August.
The developments are part of an ongoing expansion programme for Icelandair, which last month also increased flights between Glasgow and Reykjavik to a daily service.
