Radisson Blu opens in Lyon

French gateway city Lyon has welcomed a new 245-room Radisson Blu hotel as the brand returns to the area following an investment of more than €40m.

The property, located on the upper floors of Lyon’s iconic Part-Dieu tower, known locally as “Le Crayon”, boasts views of the historical quarter, the French Alps and Mont Blanc.

Area vice-president, UK, Ireland and Western Europe Richard Moore said: “Lyon is an important market in France and Europe, and this hotel opening superbly complements our existing portfolio of 11 Radisson Blu hotels across the country.”

The hotel is near Lyon’s business and shopping districts and within walking distance of the main transport links, including the TGV Part-Dieu train station 300m away.

Meeting space on the 32nd floor features 11 flexible rooms spread over 500sq m which can be customised for groups of up to 350.

The hotel’s location also provides easy access to Lyon’s historical quarter, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Old Lyon, as well as the Fourvière Basilica, the Croix-Rousse hill and the banks of the Rhône. The French Alps and Beaujolais vineyards are just a day-trip away.
