More Finnair for Far East

More capacity and frequencies on the routes between Helsinki and Tokyo and Hong Kong for summer 2017 were announced last week by Finnair. The airline will use the new Airbus A350 and flights will operate between 5 June and 27 October.

Finnair will increase its current flight schedule between Helsinki and Tokyo Narita with four additional weekly flights. The airline currently operates daily with the A330. The additions mean Finnair and its partner, Japan Airlines, will offer 18 weekly connections between Helsinki and Tokyo with the new frequencies operated as a joint business operation with JAL, British Airways and Iberia.

Finnair also flies non-stop to Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka during the summer 2017 season, with a total of 35 weekly flights to Japan.

On the Hong Kong route, Finnair will operate three additional weekly flights with the A350 between 6 June and 28 October. The airline currently has a daily service. The new frequencies mean Finnair will operate 10 weekly flights with the added option of an afternoon flight from Helsinki and a morning flight from Hong Kong.

Chief commercial officer Juha Järvinen said: “We are now tapping into the growth of Asia – Europe traffic and increasing our presence in cities that have been popular with our customers in recent years.”
