Flight times on the busy Southampton – Munich route will be amended by bmi regional from 31 October to allow business travellers easier access to the network of 200 global destinations available to them via the airline’s Lufthansa code-share agreement.
The route, which launched in April 2016, offers twice-daily direct flights between the two points on weekdays and one flight a day on Saturdays and Sundays.
The schedule change affects the weekday evening service from Monday 31 October onwards, for flights departing from Southampton to Munich, which will now depart Southampton at 18:45 and arrive into Munich at 21:30 and the weekday afternoon flight from Munich to Southampton, which will now depart Munich 17:15 and arrive at Southampton at 18:15 (all times local).
The airline says the earlier departure of the Southampton – Munich evening flight opens up a range of new connection possibilities for business travellers from the south-east.
Through the code-share agreement, bmi regional says they can now use Southampton airport to fly via Munich, to Hong Kong, Singapore and Beijing as well as connecting to many European cities including Budapest, Copenhagen, Krakow and Bucharest.
Chief commercial officer Jochen Schnadt said: “The Southampton – Munich route was our first out of south-east England and it’s proved immensely popular.”
