More top hotels for Doha

Qatar’s capital Doha is adding to its stock of upmarket hotels over the next few months with the arrival of properties from the Mondrian, Mandarin Oriental and Waldorf Astoria brands.

The Mondrian Doha, due to open by the end of the year in West Bay Lagoon, will have 270 rooms and suites, and what it claims will be ultra-modern meeting and conference venues, a spa and in indoor/outdoor rooftop pool.

Mandarin Oriental, also set to open in late 2016, is in Musheireb, next to Souq Waqif and Doha’s business centre. It will have 160 rooms and suites, 95 serviced apartments and an indoor pool and fitness centre.

Opening in 2017, the Waldorf Astoria Doha will be a housed in a 43-floor tower in West Bay with panoramic views of the city and the Arabian Gulf. 

It will have 311 hotel rooms, 25 apartments, several speciality restaurants, a spa and large function spaces, including a grand ballroom.

New hotels in Doha already open include the 272-room Shangri-La Hotel Doha, the 5-star Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Doha Old Town in Old Salata, and the Westin Doha Hotel & Spa with 365 rooms including 22 suites.
