Emirates Manchester boost

An 11% capacity increase on the Manchester – Dubai route with the deployment of a third daily A380 from 1 January has been announced by Emirates.

The A380 will replace the Boeing 777-300ER, meaning all Emirates Manchester flights will be operated by the double-decker super-jumbo.

Manchester Airport commercial director Stephen Turner said: “It’s fantastic news that Emirates has chosen to increase capacity. The A380 is hugely popular with passengers across the region.

“Emirates has seen consistent growth since it first used the A380 at Manchester in 2010 and Dubai has been the most popular destination from the airport for the past few years."

With the new aircraft deployment, Emirates will offer 2,198 additional weekly seats on the Manchester route. The airline says it expects to break the symbolic mark of 1m passengers carried on the route for this financial year.

Emirates is also swapping its current A380 service at Birmingham from 1 January from a morning to an afternoon departure to offer passengers more connections beyond Dubai to other Emirates A380 destinations.

The Birmingham service will continue to operate with a two-class configuration aircraft, offering 615 seats in total.

Passengers travelling to other destinations across the UK can also take advantage of Emirates’ codeshare agreement with flyBe.
