In its usual extravagant way, Ryanair (FR) self-styled “Europe’s favourite airline” has announced the introduction of Toulouse as an operation. Where it supports 450 jobs from, according to the press release, is anyone’s guess, every aircraft seemingly based elsewhere, but it is the all-Boeing airline’s first foray into what is very much Airbus territory. Michael O’Leary did not make the announcement which was left to David O’Brien, chief commercial officer. Perhaps he fitted in a factory visit at the time?
Ryanair at Toulouse will deliver seven new routes: Madrid (2 daily), Brussels (daily), Stansted (daily), Berlin (4 per week), Fez (2 per week), Malta (2 per week) and Warsaw (2 per week). FR also flies from Stansted to Carcassonne just over 50 miles away on the A61.
The timings from Stansted are particularly interesting with an early morning departure at 07:20 and the return flight leaving Toulouse 18:50. Flight time will be something just under two hours which gives for a full day’s activity in Toulouse possible from London. www.ryanair.com
