Airbus delivers first neo

The first Airbus A320neo, for Lufthansa, has now been delivered with the registration D-AINA.  The airline has 60 on order with four more due in 2016.

The inaugural scheduled service took place yesterday (Sunday 24 January) at 10:00 from Frankfurt to Hamburg with the flight number LH010.

The A320neo’s new engines and improved aerodynamics enable a significant advance in terms of noise and emissions reduction.  With the PW1100G engine technology, the A320neo is 15% more fuel-efficient than today's comparable models.  The 85-decibel noise contour of a new A320neo is only half as great as the comparable contour of an A320 from the existing fleet.

With nearly 4,500 orders received from some 80 customers since its launch in 2010, Airbus claims the A320neo series has captured a 60% share of the market.  www.lufthansa.com    www.airbus.com
