Ed Winter (69) Chief Executive of the developing African budget airline Fastjet Plc is to step down but will remain at the helm until a new CEO is appointed and after that he will continue in an advisory role for an agreed period of time. Fastjet was established in 2011 with easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou as a 10% shareholder with easyGroup, and was listed on the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in August 2012. The shares opened at 4220p and currently trade around 65p, a price it has held for some time.
The airline currently operates five Airbus A319 serving airports in Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe with its Head Office at Gatwick.
Headhunters would be appointed to start the search for a new CEO, Fastjet said. www.fastjet.com
