2015 airport figures

The airports have been rushing out with their figures for 2015, virtually every one a record and  Heathrow  leading the way with nearly 75m passengers passing through in the last 12 months, a rise of 2.1%.  Average passengers per aircraft were 160 with seat capacity at 209, giving a load factor of 76.5%.  The A380 now flies for eight Heathrow carriers with 20 plus departures daily.

Next up is  MAG, which encompasses Manchester Airport (23.1m passengers, and +5.2% for the year), Stansted (22.6m + 13%), East Midlands (4.45m -1.3%) and Bournemouth (700,000 +6.7%).

The fourth busiest UK airport is  Luton  which, in spite of a major rebuilding programme, could reach 14m passengers this year. The 12.3m who went through in 2015 show a growth of 16.9%.  In the Spring, Vueling launches to Amsterdam and Barcelona while Transavia introduces Paris Orly.

Edinburgh Airport  recorded 11,130,584 passengers passing through, a record for a Scottish airport.  The December growth was 19%,  Birmingham  was also into double figures with 10.2m passing through. For Glasgow an annual grow of 13% saw 8.7m passengers passing through.  Bristol Airport  moved 6.76m and for  Liverpool John Lennon Airport  it was the busiest year since 2012 with 4.3m throughput.  London City  is also at 4.3m.
