With winter proper about to arrive in the northern hemisphere, Weather Services International (WSI), the professional division of The Weather Company, has added a Predictive Airport Analytics element to its Fusion software used by airports around the world. The analytics product will enable dispatchers and air traffic coordinators to more clearly see and understand forecast impacts of weather and traffic flow on airport taxi times, runway configurations, and airport congestion.
With this system, airlines will gain early insight into changing airport operations and be able to proactively sharpen fuel contingency, flight, and crew plans to reduce costly network and customer impacts, especially during disruptive weather. Trying to prepare in advance for serious operational problems can only help airport management, airlines and passengers.
Obviously this is critical during the dark months in Europe and in particular Canada when we see some of the worst storms of the year at airports. www.wsi.com
