Shanghai date for BA 787-9

British Airways’ new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, complete with a new First cabin, will start flying to Shanghai from next summer.

In a statement last Wednesday, the airline also announced an additional three flights a week between Heathrow and the Chinese city starting on 20 February.

BA said the new flights will fly overnight to offer a convenient service for business travellers wishing to arrive in London in time for meetings.

BA’s 787-9, which is poised to become the mainstay of the airline's fleet, currently serves Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Delhi and Kuala Lumpur. It will operate flights to Austin from 5 February and San Jose, California, from 4 May.

The aircraft will also be rolled out across a number of other routes next year including: Newark, Narita, Jeddah, Houston, Mumbai, Boston and Dubai. Start dates will be announced later.

The new First cabin has eight seats compared to 14 on other BA long-haul aircraft, and has been created specifically for the Dreamliner based on feedback from First customers.

The 787-9 features three other cabins: World Traveller (Economy), World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) and Club World (Business Class).  www.britishairways.com
